Robotic Surgery
ENT Robotic Surgery
The Memorial Hospital is proud to be the first hospital in Australasia to offer the Medrobotics Flex® Robotic System. It is used by Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeons to treat benign and malignant disease of the oropharynx, hypopharynx and larynx as well as sleep apnoea surgery. This technology enables the surgeon to view the anatomy with high definition 3D graphics, providing superior visuals and the ability to accommodate smaller instruments.
The Medrobotics Flex Robotic System allows patients to undergo minimally invasive surgery while simultaneously providing the surgeon with single site access and visualisation of hard to reach anatomical locations. Once positioned, the scope becomes rigid, providing a stable platform through which flexible instruments can be manoeuvred to perform procedures in a way that is not possible with line of sight approaches.

Spinal Robotic Surgery
To complement the existing spinal surgery skill and expertise The Memorial Hospital is home to South Australia’s only Mazor Renaissance Spine Robotics System. This system enables the surgeon to pre-operative plan and robotically guide pedicle screw implant placement from C6 to Pelvis with a high level of accuracy in open and MIS spinal procedures. In addition the Mazor Renaissance Spine Robotics System significantly reduces intra-operative radiation exposure to the patient and the surgical team, especially in minimally invasive procedures.
Mazor Renaissance® is a registered trademark of Medtronic.
This state of the art robotic technology will ensure The Memorial Hospital remains at the forefront of surgery in Adelaide.
