Robotic Surgery

The Memorial Hospital is proud to be the first hospital in Australasia to offer the Medrobotics Flex® Robotic System. It is used by Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeons to treat benign and malignant disease of the oropharynx, hypopharynx and larynx as well as sleep apnoea surgery. In February 2018, The Memorial Hospital installed the Medrobotics Flex Robotic System with 3D software. This technology enables the surgeon to view the anatomy with high definition 3D graphics, providing superior visuals and the ability to accommodate smaller instruments.

The Medrobotics Flex Robotic System allows patients to undergo minimally invasive surgery while simultaneously providing the surgeon with single site access and visualisation of hard to reach anatomical locations. Once positioned, the scope becomes rigid, providing a stable platform through which flexible instruments can be manoeuvred to perform procedures in a way that is not possible with line of sight approaches.

This state of the art equipment will ensure The Memorial Hospital remains at the forefront of ENT surgery in Adelaide.
